In my opinion, you should stick to the black & white. You’re excellent at that. The “special effects” don’t really add anything to an image.

In a way black and white is a special effect too. It removes a layer of reality.

It is curious though to see such a burst of colour and I wonder where you are going to go with it. In isolation it is hard to imagine what this picture is about. It’s sort of weirdly chocolate-boxy and yet dark too. It doesn’t look like love. It looks more like a break up. She’s consoling him and he’s begging her not to go.

Whatever, this need to delve into the image to find out what is going on is what I like about your pictures.
